SUMMER FIELD TRIP!!!

If you are interested in taking  a free boat tour of the Port of Houston with us on July 13 at 2:30 pm, please go to http://www.portofhouston.com/samhou/samhou.html to read the Federal Government's requirements for taking the tour. There are restrictions and requirements in force to protect our national and personal security. (If any of these bother you, I suggest you don't participate, even though you will be missed.)

Some people will met us on the east side of the mall by Dillards between 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm.  Those who would like to car pool (those with large vehicles) in exchange for help with gas can start making their arrangements.  Email with details and we'll post on these pages for connection drivers with riders.

People, who would like to continue with light refreshments after we get back to The Woodlands, should email us that information as well so we can make reservations.

So, now is the time to email us with:

1. Name as it appears on picture ID.  2. If you're driving or need a ride.  3. If you're staying for the after party.

Deadline for signing up is July 10.

Thanks, see ya, gater.  K

  WRITE INGREDIENTS WRITERS REPRESENTS!

We had a wonderful, thrilling time at OWFI 2008. The Write Ingredients Writers had a strong showing with 12 attendees plus two spouses (spice): Ivar and Christine Orallo, Robert and Virginia Taylor, Kristl Franklin, Al Franzmeier, Ellie Myers, Samaria Elia, William Cherry, Cassie Jones, Rhonda Leverett, Mary Aperauch, Laurie Fraser and Jonna Smith.  As Kristl would say, "Woo hoo!"

We made a great showing in the conference contests:

Category 1, Mainstream Novel:  3rd Place for  FREYA'S CHILD - Al Franzmeier.

Category 9, Middle Reader: 1st Place for JOSHUA WAS A BULLFROG - Jonna Smith.  (big smile)

Category 13, Poetry Rhymed Short:  1st Place for  MARY'S PLEA - YMR: Robert Taylor.

Catergory 15, Short Short Story: 1st Honorable Mention for NEVER CAN TELL - Kristl (otherwise known as Kristi) Franklin.  (Wrong name on certif.)

Category 17, Juvenile Short Story: 2nd Honorable Mention for  LATER -Ann James (what's with her joining The Writer's Ink?)  -- they had listed as belonging to another group!

Category 26, Inspirational Prose: 5th Honorable Mention for REASON FOR LIVING - Jonna Smith.

Count 'em - our group in its first ever group entry won SIX awards. Hurrah for The Write Ingredients!

Please note; everyone who overcame their submission phobia and entered the contests is a winner.  Even if  this was your first contest or if you haven't yet been published, you're that much closer to your writing goals.  So please give a hand to all who found the courage to step out there and say, "I am a writer!"

This year Oklahoma-- next year  the world!

 5th MONDAY POETS

We love our poetry night every 5th Monday of the month.  The call goes out for everyone to write and bring their verse to read.  Don't wait -- challenge yourself to write, say, a poem a week... or, dare I suggest, a poem a day.  A poem diary... that's it!
