Every year we, as a group at Write Ingredients, journey to Oklahoma to attend the Oklahoma Writers Federation.  Last year we placed in seven of the writing competition -- and won the Basket Wars!  The deadline for getting in our entries is sometime in Feb. and it will be upon us before we know it.  We need to win some first places!

Even though you may not go this year or not know if you are until the last minute, please consider entrying  the contest anyway.  We'll keep you posted to progress on this.  To see for yourself link up with OWFI on line.

Those who attended the conference made great contacts with agents and editors over the weekend. I think I speak for all when I say the second biggest highlight of the weekend (the first was winning those awards ) was spending happy hour on Friday with author Tess Gerritsen. She entertained us with her tales, including being part of a team who catscanned a mummy.

We'll soon be packing our bags and  heading up to Norman Oklahoma for the forty-first Oklahoma Writers' Federation, Inc. Conference. If you haven't registered yet, there's still time. If you need help with the process, send us an email at jk.2writers@gmail.com.

Part of  the fun of going away to  a conference like this is getting to know our members better. If you are attending and would like to network with us, please email us with your cell phone numbers so we can make a contact list. We never know when an opportunity to mix with others will come up and if we have your number we can keep you informed of happenings.

We have the opportunity to sponsor one of the contests $105.00 or one-half of one for $52.50. Let us know if you would like to participate in this.

Also, last year we reserved two tables for each banquet. The cost is $2.50 per person for eight people per table per night. A total of $5.00 per person if we get tables for each evening. We need you to sign up A.S.A.P. so we can check availability of the tables. The cost may vary if we have fewer people sign up than the tables hold. The money has to be paid up front, so we need to collect your funds soon.

Oklahoma Conference

The February 2nd contest deadline has come and gone, but several of us are still recovering. After writing at full-speed for the last few weeks, our brains are tired. In fact, mine feels in need of rescucitation.

Let us know if you sent anything in and what categories you entered. Last year one of members, Ann James, won 2nd Honorable Mention, but was listed with a different affiliate. We didn't realize is was our Ann until we got home. I'd like to have a list of entrants this year so we can stand up and say, "She's one of ours!"

If you are planning on attending the conference, we liked to know that, also. (We're really nosy.) We found over the last few conferences, it helps to have a contact list of the other TWI attendees. We have had impromptu parties, which sometimes include agents, editors, or publishers. These events aren't only fun, they're a great means of networking.
